Twice tonight during the 1st game of the World Series they were indicating that the ball hit was a single to right field and the right fielder made an error, allowing the runner to get to 2nd. They refer to this as βSingle E9β which happens to be the guitar I play β a single neck E9.

Ok, I can see it was a "single" "error". What does the 9 indicate?

| 9 is the number of the player in box scoring. The players are numbered 1-9...#1 is the pitcher. #9 is right field. etc |

I thought "error" was a technical pedal steel term...
