I feel like an idiot for asking this, but what the heck does that Sensitivity knob on the far right of my Peavey Session 400 really do? I gather it isn't quite a master vol. I've been running my Gain (preamp vol on far left knob) at about 4 and the Sensitivity at about 5 or 6. Sometimes I hear the amp breaking up a little bit when I hit it hard with full chords (non-pedal bar slams). Anyone have any suggestions? (besides playing quieter)? : )

Here's a link to the original Manuals:

According to the original Session 400 manual... it allows you to cut or boost Sensitivity as desired. Smile

The more recent Session 400 manual makes it sound more like a Master Volume.

fwiw, Mine looks just like the one in the original manual, and I usually just run that knob fully clockwise.

So maybe just treat it like a master vol. and keep it cranked up near 10? Perhaps I have mine down too far, thus the hint of distortion.

So is the (pickup) sensitivity on a WEBB similar to the (preamp vol on far left knob) sensitivity knob of the Peavey, in general a master volume? Are these one of the same functions with different names? I know the Webb manual says crank the sensitivity up to 10 (full on) but I've most often preferred it backed off to (12-2:00 position) w/volume below that.
