I feel awful about not knowing this sooner. Haskel was the man who first turned me on to pedal steel by lending me a little old S10 Blanton with 2 and 1.
Rubin “Haskel” Adams was born on May 16, 1927 in Paris, Texas, and went into the arms of the Lord on May 15, 2010. He was affectionately known as “Haskel” to the many family members and friends who love him. Haskel served in the United States Navy. He was the owner of Adams Auto Sales in New Braunfels for 42 years. He loved playing cards, dancing and country music. Haskel played the steel guitar with the Rhythm Riders many years. He attended Oakwood Baptist Church where he received spiritual fulfillment and loved Pastor Ray Still’s teachings.
Haskel is preceded in death by his parents; Lalon Clyde Adams and Emma (Dryer) Adams, first wife; Mary Elizabeth (Grier) Adams and his sister Mary Robinette. Haskel is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Elizabeth Marilyn (Nolte) Adams; son Randy Adams and his wife Susan; daughter, Candy Hanney, stepdaughter, Suzie Moya and her husband Philip; the grandchildren include Shannon Hanney and his wife Carmen, Rustin Adams and his wife Robin, Tiffany Hanney, Ravan Adams, Morgan Moya,Mason Moya, Zachary Adams and Matthew Moya. The great-grandchildren include Abby and Hattan Adams.
A visitation will held on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels. Funeral services will be held at the Oakwood Baptist Church in New Braunfels on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 1 p.m. followed by burial at the Hill Country Memorial Gardens.
Those wishing to send memorials can give to Boysville of San Antonio or Vista Care Hospice. The family wishes to thank Dr. Alexander Zweibach and his staff as well as Vista Care Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion given to Haskel during his illness.
I had lost contact with him over the years. I feel very empty at this time. |
