I am not sure about the Wright Custom serial number systems , but I assure you this is not the 4th steel guitar Chuck Wright built. This looks simmilar to his Sierra guitars of the 60's . Chuck started building steels in the mid to late 40's ( I think 46 or 47) and they looked very different than this guitar here. This is probably a newer design he built leading to the Sierra guitar.

Todd,
Your pretty close on you statements, this guitar was most likely built here in Dallas, after he left MSA, or in New Port Beach, Ca My Dad built me a 13 string that was just like it, 1970, late, or early 72... I know he wasn't out of MSA long, when Ernie Ball bought the Wright name and my Dad moved the shop to Ca and started building with Ball..., from there he went to Or, and designed the all new Sierra, , but , as you see, he was using the fold up legs on this guitar, and so did the Sierra, but went to square legs..The guitar pretty much has the very same changer head Sierra still uses today, with some changer, the head has so many parts in it  ..Interesting to this story, the changer head was first designed in Vance Terry last Sierra, the 20 pedal model...
It was for over~tones...

No, don't have the guitar, wish I did, it was the only Guitar he ever built for me, I do still have a small plaque he made for it , mounted under it.. I did work with him, as a very young boy, I drilled holes, and polished parts...When he left to go back to Ca, I drove the truck and trailer, when I got back, went back to work for MSA, and back to playing there guitar... it would be a few years later I returned to Modesto, Ca...I played for a year or so 6 nights a week, then got in to Brick Laying, My Step Dad was a Mason... fell in love for the 109845745 time, and needed a steady job,,so went on to almost 40 years of Masonry, and playing..I was so lucky to have 2 Great Dads, and from both I learned 2 professions..You might know, one day you wake up and your to old to keep up with 25 year old Kids in Masonry, and no one wants you, and playing music had dried up..  I haven't given up, but it a struggle to get work ...as I always say, I'm just one Lotto Ticket from retirement!..  and if I hit it, you'll se my Bald Headed Ass riding off in the sunset....on my Dream Bike

| Well folks back on for sale. Forum member had some unexpected circumstances, He said maybe can purchazse in a couple weeks . so here we are. Also I think when I contacted David on this awhile back said it was a 67 or 68 thanks David for the info. |

David, great photo of the Harley CVO. Hope you win that lotto and ride off into the pursuit of your dreams.
Her is a photo of my 2007 CVO. Just sold it earlier this year. It is an amazing ride!
Not trying to hi-jack the thread, but wouldn't you rather see a photo of a nice Harley that a TTT?

| David has filled in very well on the history of his dad. i might add he was a great steel player . I went TO A Jeff Newman seminar an Chuck Wright came in and played 15 min and Newman just set there smiling and played rhythm for him.
