I'm going to be selling this for a friend to settle her husband's estate. I don't have it checked out yet but it appears in good shape and I believe it was used recently. I'll try to get pics up later today. I'd like to see someone on the forum get it before it goes to E-Bay. The price will be right! PM or e-mail me if you're interested.

The pinch roller on these is controlled by a solenoid. A fairly common problem is infrequent (or lack of) use allows the lubricant to dry out and the solenoid then won't pull in. It's an easy fix to remove the solenoid and clean it up.

Hiya Skip
I LOVED mine back in the late 70's.....Remember Sgt. Peppers was recorded on a 4 track! The first TEAC with simul-sync! A big F$%^#in deal, as Joe Biden would say.
It appears that you have it threaded improperly. Run the tape UNDER the LH takeup tensioner (black guide) and put the longer RH one over the tape (like you have it) That should get you running.
I think I recall the threading configuration that way. Give it a shot.

Scott

True, but they were four track one inch Studer J37's. Just a little classier than the Teac Wink .

No - he has it threaded correctly. From an exchange of PM's, the problem appears to be primarily one of lack of use and a need for a general overhaul and lubrication.
