Hi everyone I am a new steel player and dont know which lick I want to tackle first. There is one that I really love the sound of and Randle Currie (my fav steel player) does an awsome job of it in track 6 of Brad Paisleys Paly album. The song is called come on in featuring Buck Owens. At 3:04 he pulls off this sick lick I HAVE to learn. Does anyone out there in steel land know this lick and if so could you explain how to do it? thanks ahead. Very Happy

Long live Ralph Mooneys music!
Long live Randle Currie!

Hey Quentin..I took a quick listen to the lick, and it sounds like he's playing what I transcribed for you. The focus of this lick is to engage the A pedal as you slide the the 11th fret allowing the 5th string to constantly drone a C, and vise versa as you slide back to the 13th. As you execute this lick its crucial to pick block strings 3 and 4. Hopefully this helps. If I have time I'll transcribe the whole solo for you. Take care and Play On!!!!   Very Happy

Thanks so much Joseph. As soon as I get home from work today I am going to tackle this. I knew that there was a pedal movement in the single note I just wasnt sure which pedal and string groups. I tried to find the song on the net and post a link but couldnt find one so I knew there would be another Randle Currie fan post a reply. Wink
