This CD is magical. Russ gives his usual great steel chops a fresh setting with wood (guitar and mandolin) and brass (his trumpet). The liner notes show that Russ is a little worried that it's not all country steel, but thanks Russ for a new
approach. The production layering is so impressive it's hard to believe it's all Russ. It's the best steel CD I've heard in years. Dale Thomas |

Hey Dale, thanks for the kind words....my new web-site is on the way but in the meantime Steel'n Brass'n Wood and all my CDs can be ordered thru my home address, 273 Big Station Camp Blvd.
Apt. 3104
Gallatin, Tenn. 37075
BTW, we have a new CD out called West Virginia Superpickers that features me and five other players from the mountain state, Charlie McCoy on harp, Wayne Moss and Robert Shafer on guitars, Buddy Griffin on fiddle and Steve Acord on mandolin. These guys are all great players and it was a pleasure and a ton of fun doing this project. The final package with all the pictures and bios is not finished yet but I have some preliminary copies for sale.
In His service,
Russ |

RUSS HICKS IS ONE OF THE MOST TALENTED INDIVIDUALS I HAVE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF KNOWING AND CALLING MY FRIEND. I'VE HEARD BOTH OF THE CD'S MENTIONED AND MUST EXPRESS MY AGREEMENT THAT THEY ARE BOTH SUPERB. SEEMS LIKE WEST VIRGINIA HAS PRODUCED MORE THAN IT'S SHARE OF SUPERPICKERS. I CAN NOT IMAGINE ANYONE NOT APPRECIATING THE TALENT DISPLAYED ON EACH OF THESE PROJECTS. |

And all this time, I just thought that his mind worked in mysterious ways.
Talent, who would have thought it..............
Besides being a great musician, he's one of the folks that I really enjoy visiting with at the steel shows.
Great talent, great personality. _________________ Ray Harrison
