St. Teresa was played quite often on the radio over here. She deserves more recognition.

Here's a live version of this powerful song from the original artist, Temptation David Ruffin's brother Jimmy:

and the original studio recording:

Incredible changes to this song as well. The modulations back and forth between keys of Bb and C are wonderfully constructed (and sound just as great on a steel). I know I sound like the old fogey I am but I'm sad to think my children will not grow up with anything to listen to comparable to this in terms of harmony and raw soul.

I love her version of "Please Don't Tell Me How The Story Ends", featuring Jerry Douglas on lap steel. It's from the "Transatlantic Sessions" series:

I got to play with her on an NPR show called "E-Town" a couple of years ago...Paul Franklin played on her CD, and it was fun copping his solo on "Please Don't Tell Me How the Story Ends"...she was great to work with, and I agree she should be much bigger than she is...

John M.

You got any audio/video of your playing with her?

Be nice to hear that, John.

Oh well, here's still one of the masters...

Soul.

It's as simple as that. Can never be faked.

Joan is one of my all-time favorites. Everything she sings has tons of feeling, 100% commitment and superb musicianship. What can't this woman sing and make it her own?
