Buddy, I don't believe that I'm ever going to go to Tn, the way this prostate cancer has gotten me down. If you're ever close to Maryland would you please let me know? I would love to have my picture taken with you if it's ok.

Very few people have a significant impact on the world by just being alive and doing their thing, but the Big E is certainly one of them.

Your right Cal. People that may not even know what a steel guitar is have at some time listened to and enjoyed Buddy's playing. I have always appreciated how intelligent and articulate he is. His dry sense of humor is great.
Buddy I hope you know what an influence you still are to so many people.

Big thanks Buddy! After making a mix of tunes to listen to last night, I realized you were on every track. Roger Miller, Ray Price, John Hartford, and one of my favorites... "Emmons sings Bob Wills".

A true "master" and surely the greatest and single most influence upon past, present and future generations of Pedal Steel Guitarists in the world! And for many years to come no doubt! IMO, the Ambassador of Pedal Steel. Thank you Buddy.

The English language does not have the words it would take to describe the contributions Buddy has made to the steel guitar industry. Since the beginnig of time, individuals have came along, and in their chosen field of endeaver whether it be music, the arts, the sciences, medical, have left a mark on their chosen profession for future generations to enjoy. Buddy has most certainly left his mark on the steel guitar industry. Through his innovations, he has brought the steel guitar through the simplicty of traditional country music to the most intricate chord progressions of progressive jazz. So here is to THE BIG E,BUDDY EMMONS. Thanks Buddy for the ride. Love you man, Jody (aka the Big J).

What remains to be said about Buddy Emmons and the countless contributions he has made to our favorite instrument that has not been said repeatedly over the last half century. Buddy Charleton once told me, "There will never be another Buddy Emmons!" I believe that sums it up quite nicely. Thank you so much for everything Mr. Emmons.

Amen and amen!

I have told this before, but it bears repeating I believe.

Many yrs ago, a noted British music critic (whose name escapes me now) made the following statement,

"Vladimir Horowitz is the GREATEST pianist, living OR dead!"

Whereupon he was taken to task by a young overzealous reporter; when he asked,

"Have you heard every pianist?"

The critic paused for a moment and then exclaimed,

"Perhaps my assessment of Mr Horiwitz was not at all inclusive enough, because I failed to include those yet unborn!"

Well, THAT is the way I feel about Buddy Emmons. I truly believe with ALL my heart, mind and soul that The big E is the greatest steel Guitarist who EVER lived; or EVER will live, BAR NONE (no pun intended Very Happy )!

And I will boldly state, that IF Buddy's chosen instrument had been the piano, that noted British critic, just may have to have eaten crow! Whoa!

When anyone else learns it, Buddy has already forgotten it.

May Jesus continue to bless this man with talents that are ONLY possible from God,

c.

...my thanks as well Buddy. I doubt I would have ever started this journey before I heard you play. While what you play always seemed so effortless to me, I know you probably put in countless hours to make it that way. Thank you for the tunes, the instructional material, and for sharing your thoughts on this forum. It has made our world a better place for you being here.
