So sad to read this. We met Don 19 years ago, and we became friends.
He treated us like part of his family, and was a very loving friend.
We will surely miss you Don. May you RIP in Heaven, and may God bless
your family and friends in time of sorrow.

Carl and Jean Kilmer

This is a terrible shock. As so many others Don and I were good friends for many years, and always enjoyed each other at the shows wherever we played.
Our thoughts and Prayers go out to the families.

Don was a very special person who touched the lives of so many people and left us all with wonderful memories. Don was a great steel player, teacher, and friend. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

What sad news! I always enjoyed talking with Don at the St. Louis Convention. He was so passionate about music and the steel guitar. I read all of his music columns in the PSGA, and I will miss him. My condolences to the family.

Our lovely friend, DON, how can you be gone??
We don't want to believe this, but we must.
Thank you, for making our Grand Rapids Mi Shows be extra special.
I can't tell you how we will miss you.
And I will miss your wonderful hugs. I'm so hurt by this news right now. Say Hi to my son Dennis and his dad Frank Sr. there in heaven. Maybe jam a little bit.
Love and prayers go to Linda.

Don was my friend. I loved him like a brother. Although we only got to see one another once a year at the I.S.G.C. which I could not attend this year.
When I told Don that I was not able to attend he said, "you better make it because life is too short and that you'll regret not attending"...
He was so right... I will never forget him or what he told me...God keep you my friend. Thank you for the years of friendship and advice!

I offer my sincere condolences to the Curtis family and will keep them in prayer.

I got acquainted with Don through his many visits to OzSGA steel shows. A wonderful, talented musician, but more than that, a genuinely wonderful person. May God grant him peace.

Another sad case of one of the outstanding younger players leaving us too soon. While I was not in the inner circle of his closest friends, he treated me that way when I was around him.

I will miss him,not only as a fun person to be around, but for his lively performances and all the Tab he has written for various publications over the years. His tab is part of the hundreds I have saved since my first trip to St Louis over thity years ago.

What a surprise and what a great friend. Everytime I'd see him he'd have that big smile on his face. We were friends for years. Another one of my friends I really loved and will miss is gone. (I wonder what tune he and Bobby and Ben are playing now, you know God gave them only the best of instruments.) My and Barbara's heartfelt sympathy to his wife and family.

I know I'm not a steel player but do me a favor PLEASE buy all his CDs so his wife will have some cash. I wish I was closer I'd be glad to play at a benefit for her.

Rest in peace Don, we all loved you!!!!
