My wife and I had the great fortune to catch the Lucky Stars in San Francisco a couple of weeks ago. They're simply outstanding - and it was easily the best show we saw this summer.

JW, Russ Blake and the rest of the band knocked every tune they played out of the park.

Hope to see everyone at one of the shows this weekend. You won't be disappointed!

Matt, thanks for the kind words. Jeremy really is a spectacular musician (and not too bad of a human being, either). I just try to hang on and not embarrass myself too much.

Ben, thank you as well. Jon told me you were at the Shanty that night. Too bad you can't come to the Ball. Are you allergic to rock-a-billys?

Larry, are you gonna bring your guitar and play at the jam this time? Please...

Ok Russ just for you and Ben. I have a brand new lick I would be happy to show you, that way you would know both of my licks. I hate to over play, just keeping it simple.

I'll be at the Seattle show. BTW some friends of mine from Chicago are also on the bill at The Tractor, The Possum Hollow Boys. They are not your run of the mill Rock-a-billy band. More like a Honky Tonk and Western Swing outfit. Should be a great night.

I cant stand large crowds anymore, nor standing on a cement floor for 5 hours straight Sad
I may have to knuckle up and endure it to catch Wakefield tho. if i do I will buy you a beverage.

yes Larry, you gotta play this time.

Russ,

I was planning on catching the show, but my father-in-law just passed away. The funeral is this weekend, so we won't be up in PDX for the show. Hope to catch you next time.

Love to, Mike. Do the gigs come with plane tickets and hotel rooms?

Todd, looking forward to seeing you! Are you bringing anything interesting along?

Tim, you need to put a bug in Sage's ear. I'm sure we'll get back there sometime soon. How's your 1000?

Holy smokes - what an amazing band. I mean, all the way around. Every single person in the band is right on the money. Russ is tearing up the guitar and Jeremy is incredible. If you're in the Portland area I highly recommend that you get there and see them tonight!! They were awesome last night in Seattle!

Why am I posting so late/early? Because I'm still high as a kite from such a great show, Jon is right on, everybody in that band brings their A game, and a nicer, more supportive bunch you'll never meet.

And guess what? I get to see them again today (matinee show) and again next weekend at the Ruffneck Festival in San Bernadino, Ca.!

I also must mention that Rusty played a phenomenal opening set on D8 console with Joy & Her Sentimental Gentlemen. Sure I'm in the band as well, but I say this as a fan!

Pete, the Lucky Stars are going on first today in order to make the flight home. Should be on from about 2:00 to 3:30, then Pete Krebs. Hope to see you there!

Absolutely GREAT! MR Gilette on his standup Bigsby through a tweed Magnatone amp and Russ Blake were a perfect match.

Mr Wakefield was PERFECT, and I think the Drummer was the "sleeper" til he SANG!

I sat next to Kieth H and Rudy A for a while, took some good clips, saw Bryan Daste, talked to Pete Burak, (not during the songs though..) Curly and wife of the Cowtones, and in general had a great time hearing and seeing some GREAT MUSIC.

Duffs isn't getting any bigger and I think a few of the full torso tats on some of the Duffgirls are fading but it's still a great place, the sound doesn't drive you out, and they still have good bands.

Loved this show.

Thanks Russ.

Smile
