As some of you know, I mixed Russ and Buddy's steels off of my "Matters of the Heart" cd and created "MATTERS OF THE HEART - YOU DO THE STEEL" for those of you who want to "play along" with me on what are some of my favorite country songs. I'm now taking it a step further, and for those of you who want to participate, I want you to select your favorite song on the cd, record YOUR STEEL on it and send it to me. At the end of every quarter (3 months), I'll choose and post my "favorite", and when August 2006 comes around I'll have four finalists from which to select (as difficult as it may be) the winner, who I will invite to play that winning tune on Russ' set the following month at Scotty's I.S.G.C. in St. Louis. (Of course, Russ will be excused from the stage during that song, either voluntarily...or "with a little help from my friends".

Hi Guys!

Thanks for the replies; I can already tell, this could be fun! Actually, we've got a couple of other "rewards" brewing that I'll share as they become more "set".

We're trying to keep ordering as simple as possible for the cd's;(that's so that WE don't mess things up for you!!!) If you're interested in entering the contest and/or ordering cd's, just go to the website: www.russandlaney.com
the Operation Russless info is found under "news", and ordering cd's is explained under "recordings".

Ole, sorry about that, would you please try again with the email? I bet we get it now.

Clive, thanks for your interest. At this time, we are paying for shipping charges for our stateside friends, and I don't see why we shouldn't do that for our international friends, too. (But, you might want to hurry and place your order before Russ wakes from the spell I cast to allow me time to initiate this "event" undetered. Once "he" gets involved, who knows what may happen... )

Have a good time!

Laney

Now do you see why we'll be keeping this as simple as possible?! I can't even use my own identity well!!!

I do not wish to hear one single "blonde" joke...

Ask Russ if he thinks I can learn to play steel in that length of time.

Hi Laney

The cash is on its way.

If you put the steel CD and the track CD together with the chord charts and some sample licks then you have the perfect back up course.

How about doing the same with the Connie Smith CD?

I think I'll lay back and watch. There is no way I can compete with the talents of Johnny Cox. I can't even come close.

OK, checks in the mail and "official entry" submitted. Now, how many CD's can we send? I need a lot of chances to get in on this event. Can I place my order now for a copy of all the entries? That could be LOL listening to these(especially mine). GREAT IDEA!!
