An L-710 would be my guess also, but; I realize that doesn't supply a definate answer!

Lloyd has switched from his L-710 back to a Sho~Bud single coil pick up. Lloyd told me that himself several months ago.

I talked to LLoyd on the phone this past winhter and he had David Jackson wind him a pickup for his LDG

That's right, David rewound an old Sho~Bud pickup to Lloyd's specs for him about a year ago.

Josh,
Lloyd doesn't have a Jackson pick up in his LDG. it's a Sho- Bud pick up David Jackson re wound for him.

David, You could put Lloyd's pickup in your guitar and you still would not have Lloyd's tone. Your guitar is the Super Pro era pot metal, where as Lloyd's is the first year LDG, (though it was rebuilt by Duane Marrs). They are two completely different guitars, thus sound different.
You may want to try to find a first year LDG(1973) and cut through the chase. In late 1974, the LDG's changed again to nylon tuners, from the '73's barrels behing two-hole pullers. Many believe the '73 LDG was the pinnacle of "shobud tone".

Hi James, I've noticed recently that a lot of people are taking interest in Lloyd's tone when he played his fingertip.
IMHO his tone at Panther Hall with Charley Pride is sublime.
What can you say... It's Lloyd Green with a Fingertip Sho-Bud and a Twin Reverb. Now that's heavy artillary. |

Danny, you are soooooooooo right. I believe the Panther Hall album is even Lloyds favorite tone.
