Wow! What a show!
My family and I really enjoyed it. The talent in this area is really outstanding. The backup band, Elaine, Kerry, Jim and JP were having a great time and burnin' it up with the steelers.
To all who worked to make it a fantastic event, thanks. |

I am still buzzing from the show. It took long range planning with smart decisions from Tony Palmer along with help from his V.P. Elaine Ellis. It resulted in an exciting show that surpassed all our expectations. It was so well atttended by several steel pickers and other musicians who traveled great distances to get here. Also there were several non-musicians who were exposed to this kind of show for the first time.We had people from Rhode Island Country Horizons, the Rhode Island Country Music Association, the Mass. Country Music Awards Association and other organizations as well.
I can`t remember being so high on steel guitar. The show had a fantastic buffet, excellant back-up band, super pickers from all over, and singers with beautiful voices.
The only bad news to report is that Tony and Elaine are not running for reelection. It is a lot of hard work. Let`s pray that someone like Roger and Marcia take on the job,
Back to the show: once again Tony , congratulations on a job well done.[This message was edited by manny escobar on 24 October 2005 at 05:31 PM.] |

Thank you Tony, Elaine and to all of RISGA for coming together and making this such a great show. The players were second to none, the backup band was the best, I simply enjoyed the whole day. We have a great club here. Let's continue to work together to help the club grow in popularity, membership, and promotion of the steel guitar. |

Thanks Tony! I'll do anything to get noticed. It's pure Hokum but it works every time. hmmmm... somehow I looked a lot cooler doing that when I was 20 years old!
Def: HOKUM
1. Something apparently impressive or legitimate but actually untrue or insincere; nonsense.
2. A stock technique for eliciting a desired response from an audience.

Thanks Joe, you really know how to hurt a guy! The pic was taken at "ground level". The steel guitar is tipped forward in a shameless attempt to excite the audience. It works okay with a single neck PSG. I wouldn't want to try it with a double neck. |

Doug,
Dana told me he bought that amp with the "secret settings", set that way, right from the factory.
He also told me, that, his "Emmons" came already tuned too. That way, he never has to tune it. Some guys have all the luck !!! |

This is awesome… I’m going to get the “secret settings”! Finally, the silver bullet I’ve been looking for. Thanks Dana.
John, you got a great sound at the show. Were you running stereo effects into two amps? Or was the same signal going to both amps?
Tony, you sure know how to keep a topic alive, posting one picture a day, nice! Got any pictures of the wild and crazy Sam Gibson? |

Doug,
I was using a ProFex 2, through a Nash 400 and Nash 1000. It's a lot of stuff to carry around, but, the sound is worth it. At least to me. |

Sammy's a killer swing/rock/blues player. He uses a steelrider and a talk box. I really enjoyed his rendition of Steelin' the Blues. He "vocalized" the tune with the talk box. Sam gets a better hammond organ sound than a hammond organ! [This message was edited by Doug Beaumier on 27 October 2005 at 04:20 PM.] |
