Just got one in. Customer was not aware the newer ones had the chips soldered in!! NO IC sockets for the 5 chips. This is the first one I have seen. I called Peavey and repair confirmed the change, an effort to save money!!

These can no longer be modded by the end user, unless you take the old chips out and put in IC sockets, the N112 mod is out for you.

We can still put the IC sockets in here, but I guarantee Peavey will void your warranty!!

Too bad. Considering the quantity needed for a production run, what did they save? Maybe fifty cents? for the sockets.

I'm glad I have one already then . But after learning this I wouldn't buy one of the newer ones . This is gonna hurt sales and make the older ones more desireable .

Ken,
I know this must be a lot to ask, but can you find out the serial number of the first non-removable chips?

If not, thanks anyway.
