Rest in Peace this photo was taken in Saint Louis on September 2 .2004.....both are Hall of Famers and well deserved. they will always be in my heart forever. Photo by Walt Stettner.

Paul I understand your quandry, and it would make a great country song.
However, what I see in the mirror may be kinder than reality. I don't know when I became what I have become, but I'm not happy about it and I expected more!

Gene: I toured your site again and I still have to admit, the 1983 picture of the two of you and that Sunburst Fender 1000 still catch me off guard !!
What we wouldn't give if we could just stay at one time or another and not change. I recall the final scene from the Old Tom Hanks movie, The Green Mile where he says something about laying there at night trying to sleep but thinking of all the people who have shared this world with him.
I'm not there yet but I know where I'm headed and it is the hardest pill of all to swallow...

I am thankful I got to talk with Winnie a few times at St Louis, we had corresponded periodically and it was nice to meet a friend you had never seen in the flesh.
And also to meet and play with Bobby that one time.
Gentlemen and true steel guitar fans to their very souls. _________________ DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.
Real happiness has no strings attached.
But pedal steels have many! |
