I'm mostly interested in knowing which albums Ralph Mooney played on but I heard an instrumental of Orange Blossom Special on a Wynn album and I don't think it was Ralph, and the steel did the fiddle parts. Pretty impressive! He was workin' the tone knob!

From what I heard on the recordings that boy sure could play! And a Fender too!

The Bear family has a great boxed set of Wynn which I purchased years ago. I'm kind of fanatic about Clarence White--Clarence played on a number of sessions with Wynn. Before that the albums were very hard to find. I'd bid on them on ebay and always lose. One day I got an email from Wren Stewart, Wynn's daughter, who was watching the auctions too. She alerted me to the then yet to be released Bear Family box. Merle Haggard played bass in Wynn's band and Wynn let Merle record one of his songs which became a hit. I can hear a lot of Wynn in Merle.

I had the priviledge of working w/ Bobby Wayne in Ft. Worth during the late 70s & early 80s. He was an amazing singer but just a little wild & crazy! Mr. Green He told me that him,Dennis,Jimmie & the drummer(can't remember)were all working w/ Freddie Hart & Freddie wasn't working very much so when the offer from Wynn came along they jumped on it. Their first session w/ Wynn was "Pretty World"!! But I think Moon was playing steel on the session. Later Bobby & Dennis went to work for Merle Haggard & Wynn picked up a band in Dallas that included our forum friend Junior Knight. I don't know whether Junior ever recorded w/ him, maybe he'll see this & let us know.

Dave,

There's a CD out called "California Country" that's all early Wynn with Mooney on nearly every track. It's a double length disc. I bought one used from a seller on ebay. Look for it if your lookin' for early Moon...

Whatever has become of Bobby Wayne and Dennis Hromek. Last I saw of them they were with Haggard but I've been curious if they got out of music all together or what. Anyone know? Thanks

I think Dennis lives down the road 20 minutes from here. I got to open a show with the Hag a few years ago and Dennis was there but not on bass. He was hanging in the back singing some backups and just hanging out with the guys!

Unfortunately,Bobby Wayne passed away almost a year ago after being diagnosed with leukemia. Sad Dennis works for a wine tour company. Nice work if you can get it. Smile
