Up for sale is a 1966 Harmony 420. This amp was built by Valco and is identical to the Supro Thunderbolt except for the cabinet. It uses two 12AX7s, two 6L6s and a diode rectifier, and has the original 15" ceramic Jensen. It officially puts out 35W, but that's really just Valco's dream - it sounds more like 15W. It stays mostly clean until you crank it, at which point it goes into a wonderfully crunchy overdrive. Of all the Valco circuits I've heard, this is the most clear and hi-fi sounding; the tone controls allow for a wide range of frequencies. It's a mediocre bass amp but a very nice guitar amp, and a lot cheaper than a true Thunderbolt.
The amp works perfectly and runs very quietly. Only one tube is original, but the replacements are several decades old. Someone placed blocks of foam between the speaker and the baffle; if this was to stop it from rattling, it definitely succeeded.
$375 shipped, or $325 picked up from Oradell, NJ. No trades, please.
