I just played St. Louis for the first time this year and I had a blast. Big thanks to Scotty for inviting me, and to the house band for their great backing (in spite of my typical lousy charts).

Here's a taste of my set:

Nicely done Mr Dan. What gear were you using. I liked the overdrive and echo.

Thanks, guys!

Bruce, no overdrive, just guitar->Telonics volume pedal->Line6 delay (the little one)->THD Univalve.

The only different thing about my setup at the convention was that I didn't actualy play the Univalve into a speaker cabinet. I went from the line out (killer line out on this amp) into one of TC Furlong's powered cabinets. So the 'preamp' was the entire signal path of the tube head. I think I had a KT-88 tube in there.

I had the great pleasure of hanging with Dan a bit at the convention. What a great guy and a real master of soulful stylings and overdriven tone. It was so interesting to watch the audience listening to Dan's set. At first, they were taken by surprise. Not long into the set, they were mesmerized. Many gave Mr. Dan Tyak a standing ovation at the end of his set.

Beautiful...

TC

Thanks TC, I enjoyed hanging out with you, as well. The Furlong powered cab is brilliant in this application (using a tube head as a preamp).

I was encouraged by the audience response. It probably didn't hurt to open up with a Merle Haggard song with Red Kilby singing. Smile
