A buddy just forwarded me this E mail:

Welcome to our New Orleans Refugee Concert Series!

Wed. Oct. 19
Dave Easley (one of the best pedal steel guitarists we've ever heard)
and his band, Three Now Four (Jim Singleton, bass and Scott Bourgeois,
alto sax — Google these guys and buy all the cd's they're on (if you
want to pick yourself up)) with New Orleans Swamp Pop Star,
singer/songwriter/guitarist extraordinaire Coco Robicheaux!
In our living room! (Sorry for the short notice, but these are
refugees on-the-go.)

It would be crazy to miss this. There will be two seatings at 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. Please RSVP and let us know if you are planning on coming to either. Tell us which seating you will attend as well, so we have a a
rough idea of how many chairs, chips and wine coolers we'll need.
Please leave your children and other firearms at home.

135 Eastern Parkway, Apt. 10F, Brooklyn - 718-398-0293
Directly opposite the Brooklyn museum at the Eastern Parkway subway
stop on the #2

Love, Nick and Maura

P.S. There will be a tip jar for the NOLA muscians.* We will donate
the equivalent sum in aid to Pakistan.

Dave is an amazing player, and a nice, friendly person too.

What a great show. Dave is definitely one of those guys who really makes me feel like I am just beginning to scratch the surface of what the steel can do. Blazing bebop, blues and chromatic licks from hell, I don't think he repeated himself once. Played an old Marlen and stayed on the back neck the whole show, hardly touched the pedals as far as I could tell!! Seemed to be using a Morley wah-volume and out-funked any guitar player I have ever heard.

I am listening to the 3now4 self-titled release which is definitely worth checking out, cool compositions and some really burning playing by Dave and a host of other killer NO musicians.

Hopefully I can leave work early so I can practice...
