Thanks Lee, the backing is band in a box, and I added some rhythm guitar (Strat).

Hay Doug, I just took a look at you U TUBE presentation, Well first, Great job, Second I liked the position of your camera so we could see you playing, even cought the lever actions and preseume the A,B pedals. Question, is that a computer moniter on the desk in front of you. and was it part of the presentation. You sead you were useing "Band In a Box" I don't have that item but it sure sounds nice for back up. Well again I enjooyed your presentation.
Oh what brand were you playing ? Fender, MSA, Emmons,Just curious.

Thanks

Thanks Wayne, the guitar is a 1975 Emmons push/pull, single 10. For this tune I used pedals A & B and two knee levers: E lower to D#, E raise to F.

I made the BIAB track on the computer, and I'm playing the track on the computer, through a pair of powered speakers. I'm also playing the pedal steel though the speakers, not through a "normal" amp.

There are separate volume controls on the speakers so I can mix the guitar with the track. I'm also using a volume pedal, reverb, and delay. In the room, the sound is clean and clear, but the recorder distorts slightly, and then youtube adds some compression to the videos. thanks again!

Doug,

You never fail to put finishing touches to a melody. That exclusive improvisatory run after the first run-through is fantastic. VERY CATCHY!! Keep up the good work. A Hank Williams tune featuring diminished chords..

Thanks Bill, that run is similar to the old Hal Rugg/Weldon Myrick "3-string, 1 pedal run", but it goes Up the fretboard instead of down the fretboard.

Doug, it was like Da-Ja-Voo all over again as I watched your youtube clip as your S-10 Emmons and mine are exact twins! It was like an out of body experience like I was looking over my own shoulder as I watched it! LOL I always forget to do that run going up the neck, but it sure did work out nice.

Doug that was excellent and that little run up the fretboard sounded great! Is that run tabbed out or discussed anywhere on the Forum? BTW, that little Emmons sure has a sweet tone. Smile

That must be a weird feeling, Jim! Laughing

I'm a big fan of the older Emmons S-10, with it's compact body and basic look... and they sound pretty good too. Winking

Here's a picture of my guitar I took last Sunday at Indian Ranch in Webster MA:

Nice looking guitar!

Andy, thanks for your kind comments. I'm glad you like the clip.

That Rugg/Myrick run has been discussed in a couple of past threads. Here's one of them --> Click

The run was the basis of Weldon's speedpicking tune "Hotfoot" back in the '80s. It's basically a long major scale pattern that moves down through the frets (fret 15 to fret 3) in the key of G, and is played on strings 5,6,7, only pedal B is used, and only the thumb and one finger. It blends nicely with chords related to the key, and it's a great "go to" pattern for speed stuff. The run I play in my video is somewhat like it... going Up the fretboard, not down the fretboard as the original run went. Cheers.

Doug,

How did you get those harmonics? I didn't see you touch an octave fret or was the angle of the camera deceiving me? I really got a problem with them!

Nice touch,
Paul

Thanks Paul, those are palm harmonics. Touch the edge of your right hand to the string exactly 12 frets above the bar and pick (or strum) with the thumb and then raise the hand off the string(s).
