Ok, here's one of the best country songs ever written and a top notch performance by my neighbors Con Hunley and Herby Wallace on steel..... LIVE!!!!!!! I've got the CD with some of Nashville's finest on the session, but to my ears, they don't even come close to this performance. Listen particularly to the lick Herby does on the first chorus where it goes to the 2 chord, and the fantastic break. So much taste and feeling in this song and the lyrics hit home to so many people. To me this is as close to the perfect country music performance as I ever expect to hear.

If you listen to the lyrics of this song and it doesn't pull on your emotions, then you are obviously not a country music fan! Very Happy

There have been Several People who recorded this Song, Con, Conway, Dawn Sears, Clinton Gregory and Even My Buddy Joe Casey, but this is not to take anything away from any of them, but the guy who Sung the Snot out of this Song was Little Willie Rainsford. Little Willie should have been a Star from this one song. Little Willie had a set of pipes that was to die for.

Great music. Herby plays great. Is that Tony Cresman on drums and Greg English in guitar ? Looks like him. I know Burton and Ruthie. A stage full of talent and O' Con's not bad either. That's real country music.

Fantastic! Although Herby has always been known for speed, I've always admired his E9th playing. He's very tasteful and most of all, soulful.

Thanks for the comments guys. I have worked with Con for around 15 years and he is the most soulful singer I have ever worked with. It is a real pleasure every time I back him as we play off of each other with his great phrasing. Also, the entire band includes some of the finest musicians I have ever worked with. Yes, that is Tony Creasman on drums and Greg English on guitar. Also, Burton Akers on bass, Stan Williamson on piano and Kenny Jackson on sax. We did this in Nashville two years ago at the Fan Fair. Also, I might mention that I am playing the Fair in Knoxville, TN with Con and this same band on September 18th if anyone is in the area and can make it.

Thanks again,

Herby Wallace
