Hey, guys -- I've been travelling since May 8th so I want to apologize if it's taken a few days to respond to your messages. I think I've got to everyone but please send another message if I missed you.

Fred - do I have your email address? I haven't made any changes since the first post but I am happy to send it anyway.

I am working on some new charts but with starting my own consulting company I haven't had much time to get them finished. I will keep the forum posted on any new material I put together. You have all been so good to me...I am eternally thankful.

Patricia's work performs well with bouncing back and forth between the 9th and 6th style tuning. Perform a search for Chords on this site. You will have to translate the C6th chords to the B6 12-string tuning. Also search the old site for Quick Start Guide and you will find one for the E9/B6 tuning. One problem I have found when translating the C6 to B6 12-string is I am missing the A to B change which is normally on pedal 4.

Update: 31 May 2010 - Since I originally posted my E9th Chord Chart and Tip Sheet I have received over 35,000 hits and individually emailed the chart to over 900 new friends. I am eternally grateful for the blessing this has brought to my life and overwhelmed by the encouragement and support I have received from my forum friends. I sincerely enjoy hearing from each and every one of you and will personally email it as long as it is requested. I'll miss your messages.

Recently I started my own marketing & communications company; and, have since posted the worksheet size copy of the chart to my website. You can save the .pdf file to the thumb drive or burn it to CD and take it to a print shop like kinkos or staples. Most of these shops now have the option to email the file or upload it to their website. They print it and you pick it up later. I'm sure if you give a call to the closest they will be happy to walk you through it.

If you have any problems getting this printed...email me. I'll help you out.

I was wondering if somebody could explain to me how to use the tips on the right primarily the patterns. I am a little confused, I think I almost got it but then I lose it. I need help =) Thanks.

Here is how the tips work in the right hand column, let's use the "Major Chords Pattern" with the G Chord as an example:

Open Fret + 3 = AF

"Open Fret" - This is any position where you could play a major chord with no pedals or levers. The G Chord is played on Fret 3 Open.

If you move up 3 Frets (+3) from Fret 3 to Fret 6 and depress the A pedal combined with engaging the F Lever (=AF) you will get the G Chord again.

Note: These patterns apply to the major string groupings only. (3-4-5- / 4-5-6- / 5-6-8 / 6-8-10)

The second tip is:

AF + 2 = E Lever

So, now we have a G Major Chord on Fret 6 using the A Pedal and F Lever. If you move up 2 Frets (+2) to Fret 8, release the A Pedal and F Lever, and engage only the E Lever you will have the Em chord. How does this fit in?

Under the Major Chord Patterns section the second tip: AF + 2 = E Lever actually takes you from the Major Chord to it's Relative Minor. Still a Major Chord Pattern but not Major Chord to Same Major Chord. It's the Major Chord to its Relative Minor Chord.

For example:
1AF (D Major) + 2 frets & E Lever = 3E (B Minor)
3E (B Minor) + 2 frets & AB Pedals = 5AB (D Major)

Following that then, the third tip: E Lever + 2 = AB takes you from that same Relative Minor back to the Major Chord. So, using our example of G Major, at Fret 8 with the E Lever engaged we now have the Em - G Majors Relative Minor.

Moving up 2 (E Lever + 2) takes us from Fret 8 to Fret 10, where when you release the E Lever and engage both the A and B Pedals (= AB) you return to the G Major Chord.

These are how the patterns on the tip sheet work. If you have any more questions regarding the chart I'm happy to answer.

I do apologize for the delay. I've been dealing with a few family issues the last couple of months - which have been monopolizing my time. I haven't been on the forum much, and even worse - my poor steel has been neglected. I am always happy to share any of my learning experience with the steel.
