Let me know when you are coming down to Jim's shop & I will be there. Rick & Jim really like it....
If my wife & I go up to San Pedro to visit her friends I will give you a yell. But trust me on this (for now)..... it is an absolute killer of a guitar.

I'm looking forward to checking it out, I've never played a Rittenberry, but keep hearing great things about them. Definitely call me ahead of time if you are visiting folks in San Pedro, I'll babysit the Ritt for the afternoon for you, no charge! Wink

"Danger, John McClung!" Don't play that Ritt unless you're prepared to fall in love with it.

Actually Roger is 100% correct. I am completely hooked on this guitar. AND it has just about every change known to man...... Now if I could get Gary to build a coffee tray onto it.....

Call me and we'll get together.

I just did my first recording session with my Ritt (Beauty) and she did fantastic ... sat so well in the mix - fat with the right mix of brightness. I only regret that we had only time for one tune (it was mostly a guitar session). But I plan on using it a lot more - the engineer loved how it sounded.

Jim was visiting relatives in my hometown of San Pedro yesterday, and kindly brought his new Rittenberry for a play date.

All I can say is ouch! (Trivia quiz: what song does that phrase come from, by what band?)

Awesome guitar, in sound and build qualities both. I'll post some photos I took later this week. We even recorded with it, if the audio's decent, I'll try to figure out how to post it online.

Thumbnail view: to my ears, quite similar to Zumsteels, which I love; big, clear bold voice; terrific sustain; top notch mechanical design and execution underneath; easy action.

We compared it to my pre-RP Mullen D-12; we both like my Mullen fine (Jim has a Mullen RP D-10 himself), but the tone is a bit mellower than the Ritt. Both are great guitars, just a little different tonally.

The Ritt has new edition Lawrence 705 pickups, that might be part of its extra brightness. Really great sounding pickups with zero hum.

More pix and sound when I get some time, be patient.

Great job, Gary Rittenberry!

John, I hate to say I told you so, but.....
That's really a glowing review, and from someone of your expertise, quite a feather in Gary's cap. I'm looking forward to the pix and audio clip.

Nice shoes, Jim!

As I said before, I was not expecting to be so overwhelmingly impressed by this steel, but it's a stunner, great-sounding/playing/looking axe.

Jim, do you happen to know if Gary builds SD-12's and D-12's?

At this time Gary is only doing 10 strings.Although he is working on a extended 9th and 12 string that should be ready by spring. So keep in touch.

Don't hesitate to get with Gary on a 12 string. Last time I talked to him, he was on the verge of doing one.

Jim,

I don't know if the cat is casting a dis-approving eye on your set-up or if he's thinking, "Oh, so that's how it's done." Very Happy
