Hello Formuites,
Got an SX RESO-1 FS VS Resonator from Rondo Music yesterday. It only needed new strings and a saddle adustment. Plays very easily with 80/20 phosphor bronze 12s and sounds quite sweet. I installed a Lace Sensor Slim Acoustic pickup which sounds nice. It's a good 1/4 inch, or so, from the strings which gives it more of an acousticy (is that a word?) sound. Anyhoo, I'm happy.

Congrats on the new axe. I didn't know Rondo sold reso's. Something to look into.
Got any sound samples? |

Hello Travis,
Rondo has this square neck and a couple round neck resonators, all under $200 shipped. I'm certainly no expert, but the build quality sure looks fine to me. It's just a nice sounding guitar which looks really pretty, too.
I'll post some sounds once I get motivated.

Nice...I just looked on their site and they do look purty. I think I feel a case of need-a-new-guitar-itus comming on. |

Hi Alexa, looks like a decent entry level guitar for a super low price too. I'm curious to hear one too. BTW, what tuning did you put on it? |

Seems a case of Guitar Aquisition Syndrome,Travis.
I've got it tuned to low bass A, Andy, which sounds like a reso, but lacking the projection of a dobro. May just need a nice set-up? _________________ Sister Alexa>SX Lap Pro>Rocktron Surf Tremolo>Pignose 7-100.

Hello J.
The Lace Slim pickup sounds alright. It gets the job done plus it's humbucking. _________________ Sister Alexa>SX Lap Pro>Rocktron Surf Tremolo>Pignose 7-100.

I purchased one of these 6 string squareneck guitars, through an Ebay seller based in Belgium, bought and delivered cheaply, and no import taxes to pay. If I remember correctly it was less than £150 all in. Learning to play it in open G is a project for this winter, an entry level guitar at a low price, that's fine for me at this stage.
Possibilities of adding a pickup are interesting too! |

Hi Neil,
I must confess a budget square neck is the way to go getting started, especially since you plan on hibernating with it this winter.
That said, many budget intruments have qualities you'd see in the mid to high end from a decade or so ago, due to the China factor, I suppose. So, you can often hang on to an entry level once you master the basic without having to upgrade. Just my two cents.
