Looking for a pretty nice dobro, though I guess the Gibson thought police won't let me call it that. I'm primarily interested in a Beard, Meredith, or Schoonover, though I might sell my mother to the Arabs for a decent Scheerhorn. My main priority would be a six string, but I would certainly consider an eight.
I have more cash than brains, but would find it much easier to explain the transaction to the "little woman" if could negotiate a trade on some of the "poop" I've already paid for: need a tele or a Twin or a Deluxe RI or a Peavey steel amp or a Heritage Les Paul (I don't think I'm allowed to call it that, either)or a Super Champ XD or a GFI D-10 loaded? Or whatever: a camera or a trumpet or a McIntosh stereo amp? Or a really nice Weber mandolin? Ask, I might have something you need. I suspect this reflects poorly on my toilet training.
Being a little simple minded, I'd be much happier actually playing the offered axe, and I suspect you might be happier to see my aforementioned "poop." I currently reside transiently in Colorado Springs, but plan to drive to Vancouver once and Portland twice in the next six weeks, so the reality is I can probably meet you somewhere in the Mountain West or Pacific Northwest if you are at all interested in some sort of deal.
Please excuse the long winded post, but I think I've covered the high points. If any of this rings your bell, please PM me through the Forum, as my email availability is a little erratic.
Donation to Bob if I manage to pull this off.
Thanks.

Ken, though a number of the members of the site mentioned below are also here on the Forum, you should check out two other sites where the main emphasis is resonator guitar, and you will find a pretty good selection of used guitars for sale.
The first one is is www.reso-nation.com and you will find the better selection there. It does cost $6 a year (minimum) to be a member there, but along with a little Weissenborn and lap steel talk, it's all dobros, all of the time.
The other one is www.resohangout.com, which I was just visiting, not a whole lot on the higher end dobros in the classifieds right now, but it is free to join. I spend very little time on that one because I'm already spending way too much time here on the SGF, reso-nation, and the Jerry Douglas Forum.
Along with here on the SGF, by far your best bet in locating a nice instrument for sale will be on reso-nation. I don't know about trades involving regular guitar related stuff in exchange for a quality dobro - it's a pretty hardcore squareneck group on the 'nation, and many have "sworn off" regular guitar to devote their full energy to the dobro! _________________ Mark
