Katrina beat us up pretty good, but the DSSGA is still going to be heard on Oct. 1st here in Gulfport, Ms!
I have heard from many players who want to be here with us. We will donate all funds raised to the VFW to help support the Army Corp of Engineers who are living in the building and working in the area. We want to give them some pretty music, hot food and cold drinks etc to show some appreciation for all they are doing after Katrina left the mess she gave us. We might have to set up in the lounge as the ballroom is full of cots and sleeping bags. These guys are having a tough time working here so lets try to give them a pleasant Saturday afternoon and night as they can take a break to relax for a few moments. Thanks to all in advance who can help us out here.
My power to my home is not yet reliable, so I may be on and off with the communications. I am currently using a telephone cable that I pulled out of the ditches etc and spliced the breaks. Seems to be working for now. We will start our music at high noon. VFW Dedeaux Rd. Gulfport, Ms. Gasoline is available but all the room are filled with all the volunteer workers. Over 45,000 hotel motel room were destroyed and over 115,00 are left homeless. So, if we can just bring a little sunshine to these guys, it will be most apreciated-and especially by me for all of you. Thanks!

Thanks Billy, we can always count on you. Can't wait to hear what you and Bob Saxton will give us.
I was able to receive a phone call from Hal Higgins yesterday. Hal lost his home and everything in it from Katrina. He is in Little Rock-and when it rains it really pours. Hal has a serious medical problem. Undergone surgery, still has drain plugs inserted and he called to tell me he will be here to help out the Katrina Victims here on the coast. He is scheduled for more surgery as soon as they can arrest the infection, but he wants to come down and help us all out here. I am so very proud of Hal Higgins and friends like Billy Carr, Bob Saxton and all the others, too numerous to name, that want to help out here. Thanks so much.

Folks, words cannot describe the total destruction from East of Pascagoula to far into Louisiana. In Pascagoula, the beach area is nothing but slabs where houses over a hundred years or more once stood. It is like this on the entire beach area and for several blocks inland. If you have ever considered contributing to the American Red Cross or any other agency, please do it now. Another way to contribute may be to contact Bill, if he is willing, and donate to his cause with the Corps of Engineers. It would be put to very good use if not only to make the "first responders" more comfortable. What you see on the news cannot describe the anhiliation which has occurred in the Gulf Coast area. Thanks for your time.

Thanks R.C. You have certainely described this perfectly. When you can see nothing but a large concrete slab with a heavy, heavy and very large safe sitting there, with nothing else around it-that used to house this safe-brings it all home as to the strength that Katrina touched us with. Hope we can see you on Oct 1st. All help is appreciated very much.

Hi Danny, thanks so much for you. It will be great to see and hear you play again also.
R.J. is doing fine, all in his family made it through OK. R.J. is super busy with many jobs to haul away the refuse from Katrina. All his trucks are in the Gulfport area now.
His fish camp restaurant has also been turned into a barracks for many workers who are down here to help us clean up-as has our VFW. We will make do with what ever we have to give these guys some happiness. Thanks for you coming down and helping us out.
