Hey J.D.... I see on the picture of the changer that there's a cross rod on the end which has some springs hooked to it which are going down into the changer, probably to help it return to pitch. Were those standard? I don't recall ever seeing them on a Gibson or MultiKord steel........JH in Va.

Jerry,
That "crossbar" looks more like a drawer handle than an original piece, though it might be. But it's cruder that any of the other parts. Look at the ends where the fastening screws are. They're all sloppy! And the springs are cruddy too. Gibson spent a lot of time designing that guitar, and it would certainly surprise me if they skimped so big time on that detail. |

Y'all talking of this "nice" little detail?
NONE of the other original Gibson ElectraHarp guitars I have pictures of WITHOUT the plastic covers on show that cross bar or pull springs.
Neither do any of the later models.
This changer ought to have PUSH springs mounted underneath the fingers, right where the additional pull up springs have been mounted. Maybe the original springs tired and one of the owner did not know of their existence and added the "device" instead of changing the original strings?
