This was originally half of a D-8 stringmaster, that was converted to 2 separate instruments. It has a Hipshot Trilogy bridge, which allows for three different notes per string and, with 8 strings, will get 6,561 possible tunings.
In order to accommodate the trilogy bridge, the blend control for the pickups had to be moved to one of the the leg sockets, and a ground wire attached.
The 8 string trilogy uses the same base as the 6 string version, which is a hair too small to fit all 8 levers, so I put a piece of hard plastic from a broken cassette case between the levers and the base. It looks funky, but works perfectly.
Recently one of the tuning keys broke, and the only way to fix it was to replace the entire tuning tuner pan, so all 8 tuners are brand new.
Since I had to buy the new tuners and have them installed, I need $600 for this.
