IN THIS AGE OF PLENTY, SPEAKING OF RIP-OFFS, WHERE DO MOST OF YOU GET A REPLACEMENT POT? I NEED TO
FIND SOMEONE IN WHOM I CAN TRUST TO SEND ME THE
PART AND IT BE RIGHT, FOR A CARTER STARTER PEDAL.

WHERE WOULD YOU FOLKS RECOMMEND AS TO THE BEST PART
AND SERVICE?

THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE, IT IS ALWAYS VALUED.

Your Local Electronics Supply House, Not Radio Shack.
Take the Pot in or the pedal opened up so they can see the part numbers, Shouldn't be a big deal.

Ditto on Tom Bradshaw's Dunlop pots. I have had them in both of my Goodrich 120 pedals for over a year with no problems and they sound great.

OH, IT HAS TURNED OUT TO BE A BIGGER DEAL THAN I
THOUGHT POSSIBLE. THERE ARE NO REAL ELECTRONIC
STORES AROUND AND ALL THE MUSIC STORES SEEM TO
ONLY HAVE WHAT WILL WORK FOR EVERYTHING ELSE. I
HAD ONE TELL ME THAT HE ONLY HAD TO HAVE ONE ONCE
IN A BLUE MOON OR SO, NO NEED FOR THEM. I GUESS
SOME JUST THROW THEM AWAY WHEN STUFF LIKE THIS
HAPPENS? I CHECK WITH ONE ON-LINE COMPANY, WHO
BY THE TIME I GOT THROUGH WITH THEIR CHECKLIST,
CONFUSED ME SO BAD, I JUST FORGOT IT. I NEVER
NEW THERE WERE SO MANY MODELS FOR A 500K POT
SWITCH AND 99% OF THEM WONT WORK IN A VOLUME
PEDAL.
THANKS FOR THE ADVICE, I WILL CHECK WITH TOM.

I too have recently discovered the changing landscape of electronics supply houses, where once I could go to a half-dozen sources, in a city of over one million there is no longer a single place to buy a MilSpec 500K Pot. Not a single dealer will carry these because "they just sit on the shelf" and there is no competition anymore so who's to lose? Maybe B0B will add them to his retail catalog soon?

...so with a show imminent, I scoured the countryside, found a cheap 500K audio taper "good for 15,000 cycles" or about three shows, and an Ernie Ball unit with the wrong shaft. I finally ended up taking the old one apart and cleaning it with alcohol in time to make the gig, am I ever glad it works!

FYI I carry a Goodrich Light Pedal for backup ALWAYS!

Goodrich supply 500K PEC Pots, made in Canada. My customers tell me they are an excellent Pot. You can call Ollie Goodrich on 1-478-272-2505, he can mail one to you...

Sue.

I had a PEC brand pot in my pedal, didn't last more
than 18 months. I do not play my steel that extensively that it should have worn out this soon.
I am getting one from Tom Bradshaw, it is on the way
and should be here soon. These puppies are rated to
a very high Mil/Spec and should last me quite a long
time. Once I get this one installed, I will most
likley order another for back-up.

Johnny, I will echo what a lot of folks said: Contact Tom Bradshaw. That name equals total honesty and top ethical business practices. Tom replaced a pot for me that I hadn't even bought off of him! It was because he is the dealer for these pots and the dealer I bought it from had likely bought it from Tom. That was good enough for Tom.

Well, mine is on the way to me as I type. Made all
the arraingments, over the weekend. I appreciate
this place more than you know, honest, straight from
the hip appraisals, and such. Wher else can one go
and get all of this? No where, thats where, no where.
I appreciate each and everyone on you. That is really what makes the STEEL GUITAR so special, it's
THE PEOPLE who make, play, teach, and maintain the
steel.
Thanks again.

Well, I got my pedal back in operation, using the
orignal pot. The music store cleaned it out and
put it back together wrong. I tinkered with it and
finally got it right and oh my what a sound it now
makes. I did not even know it could sound that good.

I would like to give a big hearty thanks to Mr Tom
Bradshaw, who attempted to help someone like me. I
could not get the new pot sto stay soddered long
enough to put it back together.
Tom took the pot back and did not charge me anything.
I have nothing but the utmost respect for him.
Thank You Tom.

The pot that Tom sells is a Dunlop ECB24A. Your local music store should be able to get you one. They list at $35.
