Hank, please turn off your caps lock key. It hurts my eyes.
The Hula Monsters web site makes no mention of this CD, by the way. www.hulamonsters.com What gives?

It also makes no mention of Hank Mann - What gives Hank? In fact, the band in the Hula Monsters web site seems to be from the East Coast and the one I saw you with had a decidedly "Redondo Beach" vibe to it.Could it be that somebody stole your surfboard er,I mean band name.....I know yer in a band called "The Hula Monsters" 'cause I seen ya d@mn it! -MJ- |

Hi,
I play steel guitar with the original Hula Monsters, and have been since 1988. After we received some slanderous and vaguely threatening e-mails from the LA guys, our lawyer sent them proof of our existence dating to 1989 (we formed in late 1988). Their original guitarist, Jon Bare, wrote back that they started in 1994, and went on to imply that we had somehow stolen the name from them. I still have the letter. Out here East of the Missippi 1994 came after 1989. We have many newspaper articles and photos going back to 1990 and club owners who can verify us playing in 1989. If they started in 1985, they should have said so when we sent them our proof. They have promotional stuff on the web from 1995 in which they refer to themselves as a brand new band. Decide for yourself who stole what from who. For information on the original Hula Monsters, visit our website at www.hulamonsters.com
Aloha,

Actualy, in 1962, when I was 6, I was watching "Adventures in Paradise" while playing with my Creature-From-the-Black-Lagoon "monster" model. A Hula dance segment appeared at that moment in the program and I thought to myself: Hula? ... Monsters? ... Hula? ... Monsters? ... Nah. |

Ok guys calm down.
I'll be the judge.
Dave, you win.
Hank, change the band's name to either the
Hula Mobsters or the Hoosier Mousetraps.
Dave, Hank, join hands, sing... Kumbaya
my Lord, Kumbaya. |

Could Hank and Dave just deal through their attorneys and could B0b delete both these threads?

Hey a short reply to doug..Jon Bare was in the third incarnation of the Hula Monsters we
began our recording in 93/94 thats true.
however before that we did many frat parties
crappy blues bars and out door festivals.i do
have some old fliers but those are easily forged.where the chilly meets the cheese is who has national distribution?who was in the 1995 grammy awards?who has the bigger FOOTPRINT?sorry bro..you seem like a nice guy
begining in feb2000 we will be in virgin, blockbuster, amazon, and thousands of ma and pa record stores around the world. maybe you d.c.boys should release a c.d. that is if you want to be on the same playing field. aloha for now,HANK p.s. mahalo to Bob for your patience.p.s.s. i do not know who sent you those nasty emails. |
