While searching the otrcat for more steel in the variety of shows I came across this cool surprise, and it's in decent sound quality. http://www.otrcat.com/royal-hawaiian-hotel-p-48709.html
I like the announcer's typical of the era style, and that he doesn't step all over the music (too much...), but the silly 'story' in the middle can certainly be ignored.

Who knew?

Ron , I really enjoyed that "olde" Hawaiian radio show !!! Had to be very early 30s , there was no electric steel !! Sounded like a National Tri-cone or resonator steel guitar !! I wonder who the steel player was ??? He played very well !! Sounded like an old A-7th tuning ?? Was great and the overall sound was very good !! Thanks for bringing that one on to the Forum !!! The old geezer , Eddie "C"

I'm 100% certain it was Keamoku Lewis playing acoustic steel. I have some of those old shows but mine are 'scratchy' This one is unbelievably clean ! ... love them! I kinda doubt they actually came from the RHH as none had any indication of crowd noise or dancing. I'll bet they were scripted and transcribed in a Hawaiian radio station ??? Very Happy

Yah Bill, you have a valid point. The lack of any applause is also an indication of no audience being present. I love olde shows like these...you can detect an era of "non-hectic rushing around"which we have today.
