I love Freddie King. I got to see him once back in the early 70's and he was just great!

Freddie was indeed great and his playing style was fairly unique, with the plastic thumbpick and metal fingerpick on his index finger.

Rites of passage for most any blues guitarists I've known:

Yup, Hideaway and SGR feel very different but the starting notes are the same. I always wondered if that was specifically copped or if it came about differently. Not that wikipedia is authoritative, but discussion on Hideaway - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hideaway_%28Freddie_King_song%29

Truly the real deal, no superficial corporate BS here. Guys like Freddy are the reason people get inspired to play music. Who will fill their shoes indeed.

This is a prime example of putting it out. A prime requisite for bands in the 60's. I was brought up on it. Janis Joplin had it. Most commercial bands today don't have it and don't know how to do it. Sly And The Family Stone was another one. I tell the younger people how they missed it. When they called their band Limp Biscuit they were exactly right. A generation without soul. Thanks disco.
