Topic: Tricone tuning stability |

I'm thinking of buying a Republic squareneck tricone and since I've never owned a metal body guitar before, I'm wondering how they do with cold and heat, either ambient or body.

I can say that my National tricone is one of the most stable instruments I've owned. Once the strings are up to pitch and stretched enough to be stable, I rarely have to do more than a quick retune - it remains in tune both indoors and out.
I should qualify this by saying that I live in a relatively temperate environment. I haven't gone from air conditioning to 110 degree weather with it.

I kid you not (I am endorser of republic but,) mine slid off a stage 10 feet high, no damage AND stayed in tune.
My blood pressure didn't fair as well and the roadie who dropped it..they won't find the body any time soon lol
I wouldn't want to repeat the incident to see if it was consistently the same result but, it always stays in tune. |

I have a 1930 National and a recent Republic (both tricone/squareneck.) As others have posted here, total tuning stability for both in all conditions. Republics are a great deal for the money.
