I was just wondering why we insist on putting a 7b chord before the 4 chord in these two songs. Does anyone remember the original versions by Buck and Eddy ? not a real big deal but it annoys me when I am the picker. Maybe it's my seventy seven years beginning to show.I also get tired of rhythm players who use a 4-7th instead of a 4 chord on ballads.

Willis you are right. Buck Owens doesnt put that 7Th in there. But I noticed Sara Jory puts it in there and then I played Emmy Lou Harris's version
and they use it too.

Back in 1976 Emmylou Harris covered Together Again and it was a #1 record for her. Her version had the 7b chord. A lot of bands learned her version and many bands continue to play it that way. The 7b chord in that song drives me nuts too! Some bands play that chord during the steel solo too. It doesn't work well with Brumley's classic solo. Shocked

I think the Emmy Lou version is the one Sara Jory
copied. She does a good job, but I dont like that
chord in that song.
