I'm trying to establish a probable date for this photo below. The band is Papa Cairo and His Boys, taken in Louisiana.
The steel on the far left is a triple-neck Gibson. Can someone tell me when Gibson started marketing triple-necks?

Judging by the clothing (lapel-less mod jacket), I would guess that is mid to late 50s, very early 60s.

I met Papa Cairo's grand daughter a few years ago,She lives in Anchorage and has that guitar.

Maybe Keith Junot will chime in,Keith's Dad was Cajun fiddler Ed Junot.Ed and Papa Cairo played the same circuit.Keith may still have a way to get in touch with Cairo's Grand Daughter,We used to play at a Bar-B-Que joint on Sundays and she would come by.

I think it's just the rather poor quality of the photo that makes it appear that they are wearing lapel-less "mod" jackets. It's more likely to be mid-50s I think. |
