Well, after a few months of practice, and some EXTREMELY useful help from Reece Anderson, I played my guitar in public for several tunes on Saturday, at my wedding!
We did a few very easy country tunes (San Antone, LA Cowboy, Stand by Your Man, All My Ex's), and a few jazz standards (jazz blues, Perdido, All the Things you are...).
How did I do? Except for a couple of newbie pedal errors that actually kind of worked, not too bad. I managed to play in tune, got through the ii-V-I's in the jazz stuff just fine, if a little formulaic.
Most important - my new wife hasn't dumped me for egregious PSG playing, so it must've been OK...
Thanks to everyone on this forum, and special thanks to Reece - I couldn't have pulled this off so soon without all the information available here!

Christopher,
Congrats on the first steel preformance and the wedding. It looks like you picked a few songs that would stump some players with more experience. But, with Reece's help, you were on a fast track! |

Wow! That didn't take long. You must be a very quick study. Of course your background helps a lot.
Congratulations on your first public psg outing. Expect to hear more later. |

Hi Christopher,
Firstly...congratulations to both of you!! Glad you were able to finally play that MSA U-12 you've worked so hard learning to play on. I hope it's now staying in tune okay for you. Let me know if I can be of any more help with the guitar. _________________ Best regards,

Thanks, Lynn - I should have mentioned that NONE of this would have been possible without your help! The guitar works fine (I even fixed the RKR/4th pedal hangup, using your instruction to guide me - a minor triumph for someone as clueless as I am!).
When I grow up, I want to be a PSG player! _________________ Christopher Woitach

If you played AFTER the dinner and everyone still stuck around, that's a good sign!
Seriously, congrats on both counts. |
