I am glad to get my guitar back after a couple months. However I'm really shocked to find it out of tune. Both necks. Took me a few hours to get it tuned last night. I've got the E9 neck working perfect now. Still need a lttle adjusting on C6 though. Well, I guess its a good thing that I am forced to do it. I'll be that much better next time.

Question

Who had your guitar?
Why was it gone for so long?
Why did it take a few hours to tune it?
Why would there be a next time?

Why would you be "really shocked"? Guitars go out of tune.

Ben,
Before dad ships a Franklin back to the owner he has Paul personally tune both necks. Dad would never send it out of tune.
Maybe the guitar sat in a hot warehouse?
If you're having problems, please call him.

I have to agree that it can and will go out of tune in shipping. Also, you apparently tune it differently than Paul does, which is also not a big deal. There are many threads on the forum on tuning and just about as many thoughts and ways of tuning.

Well, not his current C6 (according to Paul's website) I already had Paul's C6th from 1993 I think. I decided not to add all those pulls he has on the 4th pedal but I did want the rest of the C6 changes like Paul's current. Anyway the only thing that was changed on the guitar was on E9. That being the vertical knee which was moved to raise the 6th string G# and then the 4th string E to F# raise on the C pedal. These two E9 changes are what I paid $800 for.

The E9 is good to go and I may actually keep the C6 like it is for a while to see how I like it... That is when I get it tuned up. Right now the C6 its still too out of tune to play using pedals and knee levers. I wish I was home more often to be able to tune and play it. My job keeps me away so much. And when I finally get home, I'm always playing catch up.

Thanks for the offer. I know you are as good underneath the guitar as you are on top of it.

I cannot believe I an reading this post! I bet Paul Sr put NEW strings on the guitar and then adjusted it. THEN it was in transit from Tennessee to South Carolina, and then a complaint about condition of tune?? INCREDIBLE!!! Ben, tune the guitar and play it. That's what the little white things are for on the right end of the guitar. In the time it took you to post this, you could have been up and playing
