I told my young steel student that now that he has an Emmons the sound will just keep going and going and going, he will quickly learn that he can play less and produce more because his guitar breathes and ooooozes great steel sound. He bought John Carter's early 80's Lagrand.
At our lesson today while carrying his guitar in, the first thing he said was......
I love this stuff.

He said that WHILE he was carrying the guitar??
Carrying my heavy steel is usually the time I'm questioning my choice, not praising it. |

That goes to show you how excited he was, did not stutter or trip, just kept on trucking.

He comes back every 6 weeks or so, they are all free, but I invited him as he was about to start an intense attack on the C6th neck and I wanted to get him headed in the right direction.
Yes tone is subjective.

I once heard that the steel guitar seperates the real musicians from the criminally insane. If their willing to pack a steel around... then their not willing to take the easy way out. _________________ St. Blues 1984 "Holy Grail"
