Guys, my brother-in-law has a 1951 Sunbrust Grammer guitar Serial # 6 flat top. He would like to know what it might be worth.

Grammer's are generally not in the "collectors" price range. It's not a 1951 either as they weren't made then.

I used to work for Little Roy Wiggins at his lower Broadway music store and at the time Roy was President of Grammer Guitar Co and the store was the factory outlet.

I have an "RG&G" made Grammer and I seriously doubt that I could get more than $500 for it.

There were several owners of the company. The original Grammer was the "RG&G" and if his has that label inside the guitar then it is one of the original models made in the mid/late 60's. The second owner was Ampeg Company and the label on these is just "Grammer" as are the subsequent owner, Ralph Fielding (in 1971 when I went to work at the music store) and then in early 1972 a new owner with Little Roy as the President (until the fire at the plant and it went out of business).

Here is a web site about the Grammers and more details the history of the company and the timeline I noted: http://grammerguitar.com/history.html
If you look at the Gallery pictures page you will see a business card from Little Roy’s with my name on it.
