Town of Hempstead Concert Series - Friday, July 29th at 8 PM - featuring Darlene Prince (Mrs. John DeMaille) and the Bragg Hollow Band with John DeMaille on pedal steel at Levittown Veteran's Memorial Park. This is a free admission concert for the general public. The band features Don Cerce Jr. on lead guitar and "Shep" Shepard on drums. We hope that many PSGA members will attend to enjoy the talents of our PSGA Vice President and our Secretary in addition to the fine musicianship of Don and Shep, who have been part of our annual shows in Connecticut for many years. For more details contact: Town of Hempstead Parks and Receation Dept., 200 North Franklin St. Hempstead, NY 11550. [This message was edited by Bob Maickel on 18 June 2005 at 07:09 PM.] |

Thank You Bob for posting this. Without any
doubt John DeMaille is one "FINE STEEL PLAYER and a wonderful person as well. John and his wife Darlene are both a treat to listen to.Darlene sings up a storm. Good luck to these fine people and Don Cerce is a killer guitar player,Shep is one heck of a drummer. This should be on your list to do if you can make it to hear these fine artists.
Thank You Bob. |

I neglected to mention that the site of the venue is in Levittown, Long Island, NY about 25 miles East of midtown Manhattan. It is easily reached by major parkways and highways. I'm not sure who is playing bass for the group, but I'm sure John and Darlene will fill us in before the gig. |

I wish I lived closer, I'd be there in a "New York minute" so to speak. I've heard all these musicians that Bob mentioned at the PSGA steel show and I'd say this performance is destined to be a very good one.
But I still think someone should give John D a speeding ticket for playing Rocky Top so fast. It tends to make some of the rest of us look bad. (wink)

Long Island will be a better place for music one week from tonight!
John DeMaille is one heck of a steel player on his new U-12 Zumsteel. I heard him play last week and he has really worked out some great material on the Universal E9th/B6th. Very professional sound!
Go get 'em John. |

Hate to toot my own horn, but, if you're in the area, "Don't Miss This Show."
I've been practising for a month now, and Darlene's been singing around the house, in the truck, and in her sleep, just to get ready for this gig. It ain't easy doin' just one gig a year, you know !! You've got to prepare for these things.
Seriously though, if you're around the area, come on over and give a listen. Darlene still sings fantastically and deserves many accolades for her talent.

We're anxiously waiting for a full report.
How did it go? Hey, I know, you all can do the entire show for us at the PSGA steel show in Nov.

Well, let me say that, it was wonderful to play to a fully responsive crowd of about 600 people. The weather was aggreable and tolerent, so as not to diminish the sound any. I, also, have to commend the local towns' sound man for doing a great job. I really didn't expect that much professionalism from a park job.
Our band, "The Bragg Hollow Band" featuring "Darlene Prince" did a bang-up job. Everybody played super with plenty of enthusiasm and my U-12 ZumSteel sounded like the "Angel's Choir", with plenty of bottom, punchy mids, and silky highs. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I wish all the outside venues were this good.
I have to thank fellow PSGA member, Kevin Macken for showing up. He traveled all the way from NJ to get there.
And, I have to thank all the other fans, who, can't read this posting, but, were there to support us and have a great time.
It's truly wonderful to be able to play a steel guitar and make such sweet music. I thank "God" for my talent. |

John, I'm glad it went so well. I figured it would. It must be a pleasure to play with Darlene,Shep and Don. Then again, I guess you know what I think of Don's guitar playing since I hinted around that I wanted him to play my set with me at the PSGA show last year. Don Cerce Jr..... Mr Smooth
