Just got a pedal steel, need guidance, hundreds of miles from any teacher. If any Pedal Steeler is heading up the Alaska Highway to or through the Yukon would appreciate any guidance to start me on the right track. Have best coffee in town.

Since you are probably going to have to teach yourself, You should have some instruction courses and books. I learned to play from Winnie Winston's "Pedal Steel Guitar" published by Oak Publications. There are many other fine books and courses available too.

Paul, do you have a fast internet connection? If so, ask around for those who are doing one-on-one instruction on Skype. Hopefully when they read this thread they will approach you about it.

I would gladly try it with you. The basics might work in some fashion.. I am not that knowledgeable and have never taught

Hi Paul,

Forum member Gene Brown lives in White Horse, also Bob Hamilton is somewhere in the Territory as well, I suggest that you do a member search and contact them directly to see if they can help you out.

Keep us posted on your progress!
