I have been using a Sierra SD-10 that belongs to a friend of mine and up until yesterday worked just fine. The problem I am having now is the G# to A raise on the third string just won't happen. I have messed around with the rod adjustment but there seems to be problem in the changer itself. When I use a flat faces screwdriver and put pressure on the changer fingers all seem to funtion properly except the third string fingers. They seem to be bound up and and don't move to speak of. When I have been able to get them to move they don't return. Any ideas?

I have a gig with this guitar in two weeks and really need to get it fixed. - Tom

Maybe there is a broken string stuck in there.

Like EB said maybe a ball end stuck in there. A good way to check for that is to get underneath the changer & shine a bright light thru from the top of the changer. If you find one a straightened out paper clip works good to push it out. Hey,I'll get those measurements to you soon for that cover,I've been really busy.

1. Check for ball in changer, as stated before
2, is it keyless??? if so, did you change the string that isn't working?? if so, put a new one on, and if it's keyless, make Sure you pull it tight enough till you hear a click in the changer, I found if you didn't do this, it won't make the change,

Hope this helps...

If I were to be presented with this problem and was unable to see the reason I would probably remove the 3rd string and the lower return spring and put the changer through extreme lower and raise excursions and see what "shakes out" as it does sound like there is something- like others have said- stuck in there.

Tom
I’ve had this happen and its an adjustment problem - (unless something is broken) this should fix the problem
Look at the changer fingers - they should all line up -- if your third string changer finger is sticking out from the rest , back off the rod completely -- then tune the string -- readjust (tune) the pull rod .
good luck
Hick

Thank you all for your input. While I have not been able to see anything, I suspect that there might be a string end ball stuck in there. If not I will follow the other instructions.

I really appreciate everyones input. - Tom Palmer
