If anyone has any Lloyd Green licks tabbed, please email or post them. I can't get enough "Lloyd" and I can't seem to get 'um just right.

I am with you on this one.

He makes it look sooooo simple but his phrasing is masterful and for me really difficult to get.
I do know some of these licks and while I don't play them exactly like Lloyd (no one can) they are close in capturing the spirit of his playing.

I've got a bunch of them on my web site tab pages. Not all of them are labeled Lloyd Green though.

Wow what a find! Lloyd is the master. Check out all those slants. BTW Peter Coopers CD is fantastic.
Lloyd uses his 2nd string pulls like no other.

Man, that Lloyd Green is absolutely astonishing! And what a testimony for Sho-Bud. I've always tought that LDG stood for Lloyd Dxxx (dunno his second name, maybe Duncan) Green. And how he looks! This man must be active since the late '50s and he looks like a mid forty's handsome man. This was recorded in 2009. He's a real living legend along with the Big E. Each of his licks were very tasteful and so relevant to the singer's vocals. Is there someone alive doing better slants than he does? And although he was less visible here, Mike Auldridge is also among the greatest on the Dobro.

Hey Guys.
There are a couple of other links on the right of the Video Tube done at that same gig. Boy what I would have given to see that one.
You are right about the master of slants.
Lloyd is just amazing and has been a first class act for many years.

I would be the guilty one in figuring out SOME of the licks. Also, because of Lloyd's unique phrasing and timing the notes may be the same but the end result is not going to be quite the same.

| Don't recognize the tune, but Lloyd was on the Byrds's Sweetheart of the Rodeo LP (and maybe J.D. was on that one too - think it was cut in both Nville and LA). |

I was told by a reliable source that the D in the "LDG" stood for Dot or Dorothy - Lloyd's wife's name.

I was just lurking and saw this post. Wow!..... Wow!
I have always liked Lloyd's playing, but that just blew me away! He is so smooth and tasteful! The steel just melted into that song.

Greg, Wouldn't it be nice to hear something like that on today's radio ?
Lloyd plays like he is the song. Don't know how to explain it any better. There are hundred's of great players but only Lloyd can become part of the song !

I'm just "discovering" Lloyd Green. Though I had heard him on hundreds and thousands of songs, I hadn't really paid the attention nor had the facility to understand the nuances of his playing as I do now. Real Headphone candy. I feel fortunate to be in that discovery stage and have resources provided by Greg Cutshaw and Ricky & Jeff's site. A Sho-Bud and a Twin Reverb, dynamite in the right hands.
