Over the past few months I have been working on a country CD for my wife, something we have wanted to do for years. It features many forum member such as Mike Sigler, Jim Thompson, and Chuck Campbell on steel, Rick Campbell on fiddle, Jim Hartley on Drums, and me on bass. This is just one song off the project with Mike Sigler:

o.k., ....someone's gonna ask these questions, so, it might as well be me.
is this an original song? who is/are the writer-s?
i know ....all songs are original!
it seems familiar and then it don't.
was this a studio project or a file sharing internet project? how many tunes will fill the album?
the voice is as fresh as the production...very good!
hoosier daddy?

Larry – What I would give for dad to hear this project. My love of steel guitar defiantly came from him and is why steel guitar is featured very prominently on the project. Charles and Danny, thanks so much for your comments.

To answer Jack I’ll start with a little history. I have always wanted to do a country CD for my wife and here it is. The purpose was to leave something for the grandkids and our own enjoyment. No stars here, we are long past 30 so fame is not going to happen plus this is too “Country” for today.

Everyone on this project I call friend and all were very willing to give of their time and talent. The song, ‘Home You’re Tearin’ Down’ is an old Loretta Lynn song. It’s a 12 song CD of remakes of artists like Dottie West, Jean Sheppard, Norma Jean, and Lynn Anderson, nothing original. We even did Ray Price’s ‘Invitation to the Blues’ since you can’t do a real country project without a Ray Price tune! We tried to stay away from female standards like ‘Crazy’ and ‘Once a Day’ which are great songs, but a little over done.

Most of the recording was done in my home studio. Chuck and Rick Campbell and the piano parts on 6 cuts (Craig Morris) were done in their home studios, emailed to me, and merged into the project. Mike Sigler plays on 7 of the cuts. The project was done using Cakewalk’s Sonar program with an M-Audio Project Mix interface.

Bottom line, a few good friends getting together and recording the music we love. Hope that answers most of your questions.

Alan, You and Bev done an amazing job on this project.
It was my sincere pleasure to be a part of it...
I think you know my favorite cut on the album.... Now place a link so we can hear it... And man does it move on. To say the least...It was nice to see someone make an album with multiple steel guitar players. If you don't have this album in your Steel Guitar Colection, then Get it soon, ( A must For All Steel guitar Buffs.

First really appreciate all the comments.

Mike I think you're talking about 'I've Got My Baby On My Mind'. Mike you absolutly smoke on this one. An insane solo and really listen to the ending. There were no overdubs on the ending, he hit that perfect first time.

Frank
this entire project was in the hands of Alan, He is a great engineer and so easy to work with, he made my job so easy.. and if you like these cut's wait till you hear the other players on the project. this is for sure one for the steel guitar lovers! the steel in these tunes are right there and out front, Maybe some of the other players will chime in here..

As with everything you play Mike... absolutely stellar!!! We're really looking forward to having you here with us again on our show on August 8th. Personally speaking, I would never want to host a steel show here (or anywhere else for that matter!)without you being a big part of it!

This is really great stuff Alan!, and I'm looking forward to getting a copy of it when it's ready for release. (hint: see if you can get Mike to bring a bunch of your CD's to the show. He'll probably sell out of them like he does with all of his recordings!)

Gary got to tell you when Mike plugged into my console I melted. His rig works very well for him.

Danny the project is at the duplicator now and should have them late next week. Mike is planning to take them to the all the shows and I will make sure there is one reserved for you.

Rick it was an honor to have you on this. The very cool part about your contribution is we never saw each other. I sent you a basic mix, you created the fiddle tracks and emailed them to me.
