This GB-10 archtop electric is near mint. The color of the guitar is natural and the birdseye maple on the back is clearly defined. Binding is intact. A non-original hardshell case is included. It features a spruce top, maple back and sides,. Serial number is
G 80 52 40, so it was built in July 1980. There is minimal tarnishing of the gold-plating. This is a vintage JAPANESE MADE model. The newer Korean made models cost more than this one and are not the same quality according to many others owners of these Benson GB -10s. Please read the reviews on Harmony Central: http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/product/Ibanez/GB10/10/1
The GB-10 was a hit the ball out of the park success for Ibanez because it melded a small body with amazing playability (the neck is to die for!) with amazing tone into one of the most feedback resistant arch-top hollow bodies ever created. This guitar is from the “Golden Era” of “lawsuit”Ibanez Guitars. Very clean, amazing shape for an almost 30 year old guitar!
Email for price. Non-original case will be provided. Thanks, stevet

I used to own one of the first production model GB10's which had been given to Phil Upchurch by George himself. I really miss it- anybody jonesing for a fine hollowbody would be thrilled with this guitar. |

Brian, I've sent you an email; seeing as how Canada beat the US in Olympic soccer, it is a major problem. On the other hand, Sid Crosby plays for Pittsburgh, my hometown, so I'll let it go.
Heh, Mark and Doug, thanks for the kind words for the Benson.
I may not end up selling it anyway, as one our Forum members is selling a steel I'd like, but the may need the funds more quickly than I can get them to him.

Ibanez builds fine guitars. The GB series axes are built with George Benson's personal specs in mind. They went to some trouble to achieve features like anti feedback etc.
I was looking at these some years back, before something else came along that was too good to pass up.
Great sound in a compact jazz box and very comfortable to play. These have special features like a spruce top and if I remember correctly, floating pickups.
This one would be hard for me to turn loose if it were mine. |
