Hi all I am looking for some feedback on these very very rough demo tracks before we go into the studio for money.

http://soundcloud.com/steve-norman

that first one is a rock song (nothing-wrong..), the other 2 are country.

I appreciate any feedback on the steel parts, these are just demo outtakes so the levels tones etc are weird.

Hi Steve,
On the first tune you really rock!...... Great overdrive sound.....great solo.
Safest route is to play what the band, or producer, wants. It's all about what the person holding the purse, wants you to do.

On the first track I find your ideas and tone are great. I like your playing on the other two songs also.

Hi Steve;
I like what you bring to their songs, in the alt-country- roots vibe.
Nice tone.... what amp/effects are you using?

Thanks Steve! Guitar is a GFI ultra D10 with a zum single coil in the e9 and an old emmons single coil on the c6. Amp is a steel king with a peavy BW. Effects are a vintage big muff and an EHX 1-echo for the distorted track, the other tracks just a little amp reverb and the 1-echo turned way down. Strings are Nickle Jags (the Heavy Paul Franklin ones)on the E9, and d'adario bright steel on the c6. Volume pedal is a hilton.

I like your playing a lot. One thing I'd suggest on the distorted sound is maybe rolling off the highs a little bit, either on the guitar's tone control or the distortion pedal.

yeah the highs in all these are a little harsh, The guitar through that amp does that. when We record the album Im going through a nashville, which warms up my sound a lot. I usually only take the steel king out to big room shows, but was stuck with it for the recording. On Curse of this town the 3rd string is shrill and we couldnt get rid of it without muddying up the rest of the strings.

these tracks also are not mixed and mastered yet, they are the raw first takes. That shrill tone is something I have a hard time shaking. I think I dig to hard with the picks or something.

Steve, sweet playing. I like hearing songs with edge to them. The songs are written well, and played very well. The C6 on The Doctor was really inovative and taste. Good luck in your future endevers, I really enjoyed listening to you.
