I have a 12 string extE9, and I have a pedal that can lower my 12th string. I would like to lower the low E to Eb, so I can play the intro to Detroit City, and whatever else. Does anyone else do this?

Low D is probably more useful than D#. It works well on the C pedal, where you can use it together with the B pedal.

I agree with Earnest. I have two lowers on my low E: to D and C#. The C# is on the F lever. I don't have any raises on that string.

You shouldn't lower it on your E lower lever because you'd lose the very useful Emaj7 position.

My low E is the 11th string because I play a Unoversal.

Like b0b, I lower it to C# on the E-F knee lever, but I also lower it to C# on a second, separate knee lever so I can get the root of the A pedal down position C# minor chord.

As b0b and Mike do, I lower my E to C# with the E-to-F lever. This way you can get, for example, a D chord (using A pedal + F lever) which has the root on the bottom. It's cool.

And it scares guitar players.

If you want to do the intro to "Detroit City" you do need to lower your 12th string E to D. That change is also good for the distorted break on "Don't Worry 'Bout Me". I agree with Earnest B. about putting it on your C Pedal where you can use it along with your B pedal and that low D note will then be the root of an open D chord which gives you some very nice things in the lower register in the key of D.

I also lower my low E to C# but I lower it on a floor pedal that lowers my 7th string F# to F and can be used with either my levers that raise and lower the 4th and 8th strings a half tone....JH in Va.
