| Not me..BUT, I recently saw a guy in Portland use a boss trem on a solo and it sounded really cool. He's a great player so that helps. He had the speed set kinda fast like a fast leslie. |

I use it quite a bit as I'm the only lead in my band so I like to alter the basic sound when on steel. I use a Boss ME-50 which is a small effects board. I have a Walker pack seat which has a compartment on the right side and I just open the lid and set the unit on top of it. In addition to the tremolo I use the distortion, chorus, compressor, delay and also the flanger for an organ type sound.....JH in Va.

Buddy Emmons used it on some of the backup licks on E.T.'s "Half A Mind".

Just got a Boss TR-2, and though I generally use it for 6 string, it's sounds good on PSG too. I like that it has a variable waveform from square to sawtooth.

Tremolo can be really cool & organic,but some trems
just don´t "got it"...I had a Boss TR-2 a couple of years back,and although the unit was OK,I just never
felt like using it,so...I got rid of it,purchased a
Prescription Electronics THROB,and I absolutely love
it...so,it also boils down to actually stumbling
over the right unit...nothing wrong w/ the Boss,it
just didn´t do it for me...McUtsi |

I bought the Boss TR-2 because I used a tremelo sound on several tracks of our new CD, and need to duplicate it live now. I had been using either a Twin or NV1000 up till then, but never used tremelo.
In the studio, I think we used my Fender Dual Professional amp and/or a Vox AC30 for tremelo tracks. The Vox has one sweet tremelo, and the Dual Pro is even better at high volumes.

This is where the Boss comes in. I always thought it was a drag to set up the amp tremelo/reverb switch as well as my stompboxes on every gig. Just one more cable for someone to trip over. I got the TR-2 for tremelo, since I use a NV1000 (a non-tremelo amp) these days.
Although I like amp reverb, it cant compare to the functionality of an RV-3, which I just got from forumite Al Michalczak, which has now replaced my DD-3. One thing I love about the RV-3 is that the reverb and delay continue repeating after it is disengaged.
Two settings I like on the TR-2:
1. Very fast speed and full depth with the waveform on full or 3/4 square.
Think of the Pink Floyd song "Money".
2. Mid speed/mid depth and full to 3/4 saw wave. Just a good generic tremelo.
I use this setting mostly. I hit the button on or just before sounding a big chord into a chorus and smile. 
One thing the TR-2 kinda misses is the initial swell of the effect as it comes on in a tube amp type of tremelo. The Boss is On/Off. I kinda wish amp tremelo would taper off when disengaged the same way it swells in when activated, like a fade out as well as a fade in.

There was a time when that sound was new and exciting.
I don't think it's very exciting. But it is in my multi efx box and I use it once in a while for a moment. |

Jeremy,that´s the real thing,obviously...those tube-
driven amp-trems "got it"...the Prescription Elec-
tronics unit I mentioned captures that physical
"thump" better than any pedal effect I´ve come across.

I bought this to go along with my pedals.
I'm not sure it will see a lot of action when I play pedal steel. But it will be fun to see how it sounds.

| Once in a while, I use my Demeter Tremulator. It sounds really great. I recently recorded with a borrowed Blackface Princeton Reverb, and used the amp trem for one track. Fantastic. |

| my fender twin has tremelo and I leave it slightly on when I play steel through that amp. Maybe about 2 or 3. Fills up the sound. |

| I use the volume pedal to simulate trem. Easier than setting and resetting a pedal and sounds smoother. Sounds good on sustained harmonic chords for backup. |

| I have a Tremolo "tone" (program) in my POD X3. I have only used it a couple of times. But, its there if I want it. The Line 6 Tremolo model sounds exactly like the Fender Tremolo. |

I love trem. The onboard tube trem on my Milkman Creamer is outstanding and stupid fat.
I've used a Voodoo Lab Tremolo---the slope knob is very useful for dialing in the wave shape.
The absolute best pedal I've heard (and have) is a Red Witch PentaVocal. Possibly more knobs than you might want but it can dial in some great sounds. |

I played a gig recently with tremolo turned on for all steel parts. I had set-up under a ceiling fan. It was ugly.

I use it occasionally, usually the onboard trem in one of the Fenders. otherwise...
This Fulltone unit from back in the day when Mike was still making them in experimenter boxes with tape labels.....

I have some great trem tones on my Strymon Flint, but it rarely actually gets used with Steel. Just for ambient washy stuff. Can sound great with distorted lap steel though.

| After not having an amp with trem since the '80s, got a Boss a couple of years back. Run it next to last in the pedal chain, after the delay>reverb (and before a boost). Sparingly used, perhaps my favorite effect is copping simple baritone guitar licks. |
