Any of you ever hear of a Rickenbacker "ACE" guitar. I saw this guitar at the weekend. The guy selling it says it is a 1940 Rick, It is a White body with ACE, not rickenbacker on the headstock. Also this model did not have Horseshoe pick ups on it. Did rickenbecker make these guitars? Just curious! |

Rickenbacker made the Ace student model guitar from 1948 to 1953. They don't have the horseshoe pickup found on other models, but can be a nice sounding lap steel.

Steve: Prior to the Ace, Rickenbacker also made a similar instrument, but with the horseshoe pickup. It was called the Academy and came in a number of colors, including brown, maroon, white and red. These instruments are really worth seeking out. They sound GREAT. |
